Web design is a pretty complex animal. You can have your site built on a number of different platforms – Joomla; Drupal, WordPress – each of which incorporates a different way of managing your content. You can engage in traditional SEO and social media marketing. You can create a brand personality with the graphic design work that goes into it.
You can choose different keywords and phrases to optimise for. You can choose to go after specific competitors by doing a SEO competitor analysis.
There’s one web design rule you have to stick to no matter what you choose, though. Keep it simple. Your website is ultimately a tool for your customers. And they don’t understand your business as well as you do. So if you want to make them understand your business, you need to get them interested and informed, quickly and simply.
The easiest way to do that? Make sure your web design solution is sparse, clean and as free from extraneous functionality as possible. The basic rule is, if you can say it or show it simpler, then your site isn’t working properly.
